Library Media Connection - Bridget Slayden

"In this easy to read, eye-opening series, the pictures alone will spark interest. Each book begins with a quick overview, then briefly covers eleven unusual animals, scientific advances, or sports. While the lack of in-depth information on each topic is a little disappointing, the books would make an excellent starting point for research, especially for reluctant readers and writers. There is a section with additional titles that cover similar subjects. The books are written on a basic level, but be aware that a few of the photographs in the book on science are a bit startling and may prove unsettling to younger students. The books as a whole have a “is this for real” feel, which means the author’s intended purpose has been achieved. Glossary. Index. Recommended." - Library Media Connection
