Capstone Young Readers and Scribd Announce eBook Subscription Deal

Minneapolis, Minn. – Aug. 20, 2014 – Capstone Young Readers, a leading publisher of children’s books and digital products and services, announces a distribution agreement with Scribd, the leading eBook subscription service featuring more than 500,000 eBooks ranging from contemporary bestsellers to beloved classics. Capstone Young Readers is the third children’s publisher to join the service.

Compatible with all devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, Kindle Fire, Nook tablets and web browsers, Scribd allows readers to access books and read anywhere, even offline.

“We are pleased to partner with Scribd to help bring more great reading experiences to more young readers and families. We believe children read for longer and more often when they can choose what they read. Pairing titles featuring strong characters and content children love to read about with an accessible platform helps do just that,” said Ashley Andersen Zantop, Capstone Group Publisher and General Manager.

Among the 500 eBooks under the agreement are titles from Capstone’s licensing partnerships with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (You Choose: Scooby-Doo) and DC Entertainment (DC Super-Pets and DC Super Heroes), Sports Illustrated Kids (SI Kids Rookie Books, Sports Illustrated Kids Graphic Novels, and Sports Illustrated Kids Victory School Superstars), and Tony Hawk Inc. (Tony Hawk’s 900 Revolution and Tony Hawk: Live 2 Skate). Popular Capstone characters, such as Jake Maddox, Katie Woo, Kylie Jean, Zeke Meeks, Benji Franklin and Krystal Ball, as well as select toddler and picture books, nonfiction favorites, and the Eisner Award nominated titles Here I Am and Jellaby, are also available as part of the initial launch.

“Children's and YA is a rapidly growing category for us and through this deal with Capstone, we're able to bring parents more of the amazing content they’re eager to share with their children,” said Andrew Weinstein, VP of Content Acquisition at Scribd. “Encouraging a love of reading from a young age sets children up for greater success later in life and that’s something Scribd is excited to support.”
