Capstone Releases Beta Version of PebbleGo 2.0

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – April 29, 2014 – Capstone, a leading publisher of children’s books and digital products and services, is offering customers early access to a beta version of its popular PreK-3 research solution PebbleGo™. PebbleGo 2.0 features a new interface design optimized for the iPad, Android, Kindle Fire HD, and other mobile devices, as well as a number of enhancements to the navigation for a more consistent user experience across all four of the database modules: Animals, Biographies, Earth and Space, and Social Studies.

Among the new features are easier access to the main menu through a “Home” button and a print and media toolbar grouping navigation functions such as activities, videos, and audio together.

Customers can choose to start using the PebbleGo 2.0 now or remain with the original PebbleGo through the middle of June at which point they will automatically migrate to the updated version.

“PebbleGo is the best database offering for elementary students and we’re delighted to deliver a mobile version to make it even better, and give our customers what they have been asking for,” said David Samuelson, General Manager of Capstone’s Library division. “We know it’s a busy time of year for schools, so we are giving our customers the option to try the new version during this beta period and to provide us feedback as we complete the final adjustments for its official launch in June.”

Customers with updated browsers (Chrome, Safari 5.0 or higher, FireFox 19.0 or higher, Internet Explorer 9 or higher) will experience the new features through both their mobile devices and desktop computers.

PebbleGo employs reading scaffolding strategies to strengthen emergent readers’ literacy and research skills through a streamlined interface, audio supports, and easy-to-read articles. PebbleGo includes expertly leveled and fully narrated text, animated highlighting, glossary words, visual searching, educational videos and games, and encompassing activities which teach students how to cite articles, create reports, and share what they’ve learned. The database is available over the Internet 24/7 as an annual subscription for enrolled students.

Launched in 2009, PebbleGo Animals was the first database of its kind featuring text specifically leveled for a PreK-3 student. Reviewers gave the database 5-stars (MultiMedia & Internet @ Schools), an A+ (School Library Journal), a Star review (Library Media Connection), and named it one of the year’s “Top 20 Best Bets for Student Researchers” (Booklist) and “Top Five Resources for Fall” (School Library Journal). PebbleGo has received a number of awards from the Software and Information Industry Association, Tech & Learning magazine, Learning magazine, the Association of Educational Publishers, and ComputEd Gazette.
