“Writing this book has been such an amazing experience as it has been a catalyst for reflection. Painting a picture for others about how to create a magical common core focused learning community has caused us to grow as educators, collaborators and friends. We are so thankful for the opportunity to make an impact in education beyond our individual classroom doors and hope to inspire kindergarten teachers everywhere!”
—Kathy Brown and Sarah Martino, Authors

“Kathy Brown and Sarah Martino have been longstanding popular presenters at our IL ASCD Pre-K and Kindergarten Conferences. They are a dynamic duo that always inspires enthusiasm! I am so glad they have developed this practical resource so that kindergarten teachers everywhere can now benefit from their engaging and common sense ‘Common Core’ approaches.”
—D. William Dodds, Ed.D., Executive Director, Illinois ASCD

“Packed between the covers of this volume is a true love of children and of learning, a deep understanding of content and standards—and the wisdom it takes to pull it all together. Kathy and Sarah have a knack for making kindergarten both rigorous and magical. They create an atmosphere where children feel comfortable taking the risks that help them grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. They help parents understand what their children are capable of doing in kindergarten, and they tie it back to standards. Their love of their job touches every listener who hears them speak, each parent who is lucky enough to have a child in their class, and each child who walks through their doors and leaves at the end of the year brimming with enthusiasm and confidence.”
—Lynnette Brent, Educational Consultant
