Capstone Partners with Saint Paul Schools to Offer Lunch and Literacy

Lunch_Literacy_2015

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – July 13, 2016 – Capstone, a leading publisher of children’s books, digital solutions and services, literacy programs, and K–12 professional development resources, is donating more than  1,000 children’s books to Saint Paul Public Schools’ “Lunch and Literacy” outreach meals program this summer.  For the second year, the Mobile Café food truck started delivering free, daily, nutritious meals to children up to age 18 in the Saint Paul area. On one day a month along with their lunch, children will receive a free book from Capstone to take home for their personal library.

Capstone books to be given away on: July 13, and August 10.

“Thanks to Capstone's generous donation of books, we are excited to continue our monthly ‘Lunch and Literacy’ program with our Mobile Cafe food truck this summer. The kids were very appreciative and enthusiastic about picking out a book to call their own last summer, and many immediately started reading while they enjoyed their delicious meals.  The ‘Lunch and Literacy’ events help to keep children's minds and bodies nourished over the summer so they come back to school in the fall ready and excited to learn. ” said Lynn Broberg, Nutrition Business Systems Manager, Saint Paul Public Schools.

“Summer is a critical time to keep kids engaged in reading. We’re thrilled to partner with Saint Paul Public Schools’ ‘Lunch and Literacy’ program a second year to get books in kids’ hands over the summer.  It is exciting that the program expects to double in size since last year, said Gail Beer, Capstone VP of Customer Relations, it means the program works.  What could be better than more kids excited to learn with the help of a good book.”
