MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Jan. 8, 2013 – Capstone, a leading publisher of children's books and digital products and services, is pleased to announce a donation of 10,366 books to Operation: BuddyPack, an initiative of The Heart of America Foundation which delivers books and supplies to children affected by disasters.
Operation: BuddyPack distributed the donated books last month to schools and communities in New Jersey and New York affected by Hurricane Sandy. The initiative delivered more than 18 tons of BuddyPacks, new backpacks full of toiletries, books, and other essential supplies, to the superstorm's youngest victims.
"There is so much work yet to be done in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Thankfully, efforts like Operation: BuddyPack are giving hope and changing lives, one backpack at a time. Capstone is grateful to be able to partner with this important initiative and help give back to these communities in need," said Lisa Hanson, Capstone Director of Corporate Giving.
