Mary Boone

Mary Boone has ridden an elephant, jumped out of an airplane, and hung out backstage with a boy band – all to do research for her articles and books. Mary has written more than 45 books for young readers. She grew up in Iowa and now lives in Tacoma, Wash., with her husband, two teen-age children, and an Airedale terrier named Iris.

This author is available for in-person and Skype visits. Learn more!

I prefer presenting to students in grades K-5.
I work with teachers to customize presentations to fit their needs.
Most commonly requested programs are:
Building Characters Readers Will Love
Using Powerful Words to Pack a Punch
Making Nonfiction Non-Boring

I also provide follow-up materials for teachers so learning can continue, after I leave.

Generally, a visit lasts for one hour.

For in-person visits: $150 for a one-hour presentation, $100 per hour thereafter for a presentation(s) scheduled on the same day, with a limit of four, total.
No travel expenses charged for schools within 60 miles of her home in Tacoma, Washington.
No charge for Skype visits.
I am happy to work with teachers to arrange a visit plan that fits their budgets.
