Go undercover in Michael Burgan’s World War II Spies: An Interactive History Adventure. You’re living as a spy during the height of World War II. Advances in technology have provided new methods to keep secrets, steal information, and destroy enemy plans. Will you: Become a resistance fighter in Denmark? Work as a double agent, pledging loyalty to one country but actually spying for another? Join the U.S. Office of Strategic Services, shuttling weapons to the Allies? Everything in this book happened to real people. And YOU CHOOSE what you do next. The choices you make could lead you to opportunity, to victory, to defeat, or even to death.

School Library Journal, Series Made Simple - Mary Mueller, Rolla Public Schools, MO

"Adventure seekers will enjoy the choices they are given in the fast-paced, fictional (but historically accurate) World War II scenarios in these books. Each volume has an “About Your Adventure” introduction, followed by a chapter that orients readers in the time period. Students are given three initial story paths, which lead to numerous choices and many different endings, all set in important or notable battles. The primary characters include Allied fighters (one a Tuskegee Airman) and Germans, but no Japanese fighters. Readers will quickly see that even seemingly simple choices have life or death consequences. The mostly black-and-white period photos add realism, while maps, time lines, and captions add additional facts. Though these engaging texts are not replacements for traditional nonfiction, they will help readers understand the horrors and dangers of battle." - School Library Journal, Series Made Simple

King's College London - Lianne Smith

"...absolutely fantastic! The photographs are wonderful – it’s clear there’s been a real effort maintain authenticity – and the ‘choose your own story’ format is very clever indeed. I should imagine it would be really engaging for younger readers, and I must confess I spent my lunch break working my way through the various stories!" - King's College London

"I have really gotten to like these You Choose adventures. Throughout your adventure, there are maps and lots of photographs relevant to the path of each adventure you are following. And there is lots of back matter for anyone who wants to find out more. . . .Like the other interactive history books, World War II Spies, will have lots of appeal to any reader interested in the war. It would also be a wonderful supplement to a classroom or home schooling situation studying the war." - The Children's War blog
