Reviews

Booklist - Snow Wildsmith

"Soo’s story teaches its readers much-needed life skills, but it doesn’t ever stint on the fun. The series is perfect for car and racing fans. . . .Soo’s colorful art brings to life the thrills as his anthropomorphic characters careen through a variety of locales. Give this to the next young patron who checks out the movie Cars." - Booklist

Bulletin for the Center for Children's Books - AS

"In this buoyant and zippy graphic novel, March is a bunny on a mission to race cars, even in situations where a more moderate speed might be called for. . . .Soo ditches the panel format on occasion, allowing for immersive car diagrams or full-page illustrations that slow the reader long enough to let a key moment sink in. Sure, there are some morals snuck in here, but mostly these are giddy, energetic comics that readers will devour in a gulp and leave wishing there had been more laps." - Bulletin for the Center for Children's Books

Kirkus Reviews

"Vibrant and energetic art mingles with buoyant action and a perky message of friendship, creating an extremely lighthearted, breezy yarn with a decidedly Saturday-morning-cartoon feel. . . .the nonstop energy and cheery morals should easily push this past the finish line. An unfalteringly sunny, action-driven collection." - Kirkus Reviews

Publishers Weekly

"STARRED REVIEW! In what reads like a love letter to racing comics like Speed Racer, Soo (Jellaby) presents a highly entertaining trio of stories about March Hare, a talented racer who's a good sport, too. . . . The stories are filled with puns and literary references (March Hare's name evokes both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Speed Racer's Japanese name, Mach GoGoGo), while Soo's clear-line illustrations keep the stories moving full throttle and reveal an evident automotive passion." - Publishers Weekly

Publishers Weekly, "Hit the Road with 12 Great Car Comics" - Matt White

"Soo’s all-ages comics stars March Hare, a rabbit who never slows down, whether he's driving along desert roads, speeding down a racetrack, or delivering his sister’s baked goods. Along with his mechanic, Hammond, March is determined to be the fastest around and have the most fun doing it. Collects ‘The Race at Harewood,’  The Baker’s Run,’ and ‘The Great Desert Rally.’" - Publishers Weekly, "Hit the Road with 12 Great Car Comics"

SLJ's Good Comics for Kids blog - Esther Keller

"Capstone already brought back Soo’s two-volume Jellaby series. . . .But his latest title, March Grand Prix, features adorable rabbits, lots of cars, and action in pastel tones." - SLJ's Good Comics for Kids blog

Kean Soo

Kean Soo

Born in England and raised in Hong Kong, Kean Soo settled in Canada, where he planned to embark on a career in electrical engineering. However, he discovered that he'd rather draw comics instead. Kean began posting his comics on the internet in 2002, and later became an assistant editor and regular contributor to the all-ages FLiGHT anthologies. His online work has been nominated for several awards, including an Eisner Award nomination for Jellaby. Kean likes carrots, but not nearly as much as he likes tuna sandwiches, usually with lots and lots of wasabi mayonnaise.
