Library Media Connection Online - Nelda Brangwin
If you serve a population learning English or needing to review parts of speech and grammar, this series will serve. The written word is well-supported with illustrations and text boxes. Teachers will find ample use for them in lessons to help round out a grammar concept.

Misguided choice of verb in the title notwithstanding, this series delivers a thorough introduction to the major elements and rules of the English language. Each book contains bold fonts, photographs, illustrations, and vibrant color backgrounds. Thoughtfully and, at times humorously written (Punctuation emphasizes the importance of spaces with "ifyoudontleavespaceswritinglookssilly"), speech-bubble like text boxes and cartoon characters give the books an informal, comic-book feel, making the fundamentals of sentence structure, word usage, and grammar palatable, if a bit distracting. Each title concludes with an exercise (the answer is provided on the same page). A lively set only worth the money if intended to complement more academic material, this series instructs in a lighthearted but effective style that’s sure to enhance grammar lessons. - Christina Connolly, Clark University, Worcester, MA School Library Journal April 2012 Issue
