Children love pets. They don’t always know how to take care of an animal. This book, and probably the series, gives young readers the information they need to select and to care for a pet. The book covers the parts of the animal, how to choose the best one, what is needed when the pet comes home and how to feed, groom and care for the animal. The photographs support the text. The text is concise and easy to understand. Words in dark print are in a glossary in the back of the book. This will be a useful book for children doing research for reports or for their own personal interest. – Omaha Public Schools

Clark County School District - Jevannah Antila

Explores the life cycle of cats looking at its growth and development and discusses its essential needs such as housing, feeding, exercise, handling, and companionship. The photographs are of many different types of cats, mostly with children. The photos appear up to date, the children’s clothing is not "dated". I assume that the facts and descriptions are accurate and consistent with the story and setting. Recommneded—Jevannah Antila, Newton Elementary School Clark County School District 2/15/2010
