Baldwin Borough Public Library - Beth Schultz

Photographs show the beauty of this unique country. This book will be helpful to students studying about the cultures of other countries. I like how the book includes information on food, free time and schooling. It helps children to connect to topics with which they are familiar. Omaha Public Schools

This is a beginning country book on Vietnam. Words are in large print. Sentences are short and a lower reading level. Topics are covered in only two pages. Topics include land, landmarks, homes, food, clothes, work, and so on. Many full-colored photographs show mostly rural life with only a few city photos that show Vietnam as having any modern buildings or conveniences. A nice touch is a pronunciation guide after each Vietnamese word. A short pronunciation guide is also included in the back of the book with a glossary. This gives only a sketchy view of the country but would do for low level readers doing research. – Omaha Public Schools

Arlington Independent School District - Jessica Schlott

Series: A Visit to. . . As a beginning introduction to a country, this book has excellent, large photographs showing people of all ages in a wide variety of situations. Not too overwhelming for even young students, the photos give a cultural view of this country. A brief list of Vietnamese words and pronunciations, along with a fact file and glossary will be of use for research purposes. It includes a table of contents, glossary, index, map, and fact file. The photos are great and help the reader to understand what Vietnam looks like and what life is like there. Facts are accurate.
