Capstone Offers Digital Support to Texas Schools Affected by Hurricane Harvey
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Sept. 7, 2017 – Capstone, a leading publisher of children’s books and digital products and services, is lending support and resources to Houston-Galveston area schools damaged by Hurricane Harvey by donating free access to its award-winning digital products PebbleGo, PebbleGo Next, and Capstone Interactive eBooks.
Capstone’s donation includes access to all of its PebbleGo modules for grades PreK-3 (Animals, Spanish Animales, Biographies, Dinosaurs, Science, and Social Studies), PebbleGo Next modules for grades 3-5 (Science, Social Studies, and States and American Indian Studies), and its extensive digital collection of more than 3,000 Capstone Interactive eBooks.
“Reading entertains, inspires, and educates and Capstone wants to make sure that students never want for access as their communities go through the rebuilding process. We know that many schools may not be in the position to receive physical books at this time, so we want to make sure they have immediate access to resources to keep students reading and learning while their families and communities move through the recovery process,” said Tom Ahern, Capstone CEO.
Eligible schools will be activated on a weekly basis with access expiring automatically by January 31, 2018. Schools should register to receive the donation at www2.mycapstone.com/texasstrong.
All PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next database modules include expertly leveled text with read-aloud audio recorded by professional voice over artists to provide essential scaffolds to make content accessible for all learners. The databases incorporate a streamlined interface, animated highlighting, educational videos and games, and encompassing activities that teach students how to cite articles, create reports, and share what they’ve learned. The databases are available over the Internet 24/7.
Capstone Interactive eBooks feature text-to speech highlighting, full-color illustrations, and natural-voice audio recorded to model fluency and pronunciation. Students can access the interactive eBooks directly from their school or home, 24/7. The interactive eBooks are compatible with any PC, Mac, iPad®, Android tablet, interactive white board, or other devices with high-speed internet access and speakers or headphones.
