Capstone Announces PebbleGo Next Social Studies Database at Texas Library Association Conference
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – April 17, 2017 – Capstone, a leading publisher of children’s books and digital products and services, is announcing its newest database module PebbleGo Next: Social Studies this week at the Texas Library Association (TLA) conference (booth 1517). Set for release in August 2017, the module will introduce social studies content targeted to grades 3-5 curriculum and will join the previously launched databases PebbleGo Next: Science and PebbleGo Next: States and American Indian Studies.
"We’re pleased to offer students who have advanced from PebbleGo the next step in social studies research. PebbleGo has a tremendous fan base in Texas and so TLA is naturally the perfect place to announce the summer launch of PebbleGo Next: Social Studies. We’re looking forward to hearing what our Texas librarian customers think about the new module," said Matt Keller, Capstone Chief Marketing Officer.
PebbleGo Next: Social Studies will feature more than 150 articles aligned with national curriculum standards for the social studies. The module’s robust content will explore: Culture (community and self, examining world cultures, and global issues), Economics, Fields of Study, Geography (continents and U.S. landforms), Technology and Society (global communication and the history of technology), and the United States (government, U.S. history, landmarks, and symbols). Each of the articles will include: a project or activity related to the topic, a research report template, critical thinking questions, a video (when available), and information-rich text.
PebbleGo Next includes expertly levelled text with read-aloud audio recorded by professional voice over artists to provide essential scaffolds to make content accessible for all learners. PebbleGo Next employs a streamlined interface, animated highlighting, educational videos and games, and encompassing activities which teach students how to cite articles, create reports, and share what they’ve learned. The database is available over the Internet 24/7 as an annual subscription for enrolled students.
