For more than 20 years, Capstone has created awesome learning experiences for children and students all over the world. Capstone’s family of imprints provide both fiction and nonfiction books for all young readers, including beginning, struggling, and reluctant readers.

Launched in Fall 2012, Capstone Young Readers is the trade imprint of Capstone and publishes titles that spark a love of reading and ignite curiosity about the world around us. Capstone Young Readers offers a spectacular array of children’s books and ebooks from beloved authors Charles Reasoner, Kate McMullan, “Father Goose” Charles Ghigna, Alan MacDonald, Roberto Pavenello, Michael Dahl, Fran Manushkin, Diana Gallagher, and Steve Brezenoff, among others. With a stellar list and licensing partners Warner Bros. Consumer Products/DC Entertainment, Sports Illustrated Kids, Smithsonian, Tony Hawk, Inc., Capstone Young Readers inspires imagination and a passion for reading from toddlers to teens.

Our Family of Imprints:

capstone-press The oldest of the Capstone imprints, Capstone Press published its first season of 48 titles in 1991. The imprint publishes nonfiction with accessible text on topics kids love to capture interest and build confidence and skill in beginning, struggling, and reluctant readers, grades preK-9. Capstone Press’ history is marked with innovative firsts in publishing, introducing brands like Pebble (the first nonfiction research series for emergent readers), Graphic Library (the first nonfiction graphic novel series), and You Choose Books (the first nonfiction interactive history books), as well as websites FactHound.com™ (the first publisher-provided internet resource for elementary students) and CapstoneKids.com™ (a free educational website for kids). High-profile licensing partners include Sports Illustrated Kids and Smithsonian. Among the imprint’s popular characters include Max Axiom and Isabel Soto.

 

compass-pointCompass Point Books launched in 1999 with a focus on smart nonfiction for middle school readers. The imprint weaves comprehensive narrative with intriguing facts and real-world examples to make history, science, and biographies come alive for readers in grades 5-12. Among its best sellers includes the critically acclaimed Captured History series.

Acquired in 2008 from Pearson, Heinemann-Raintree publishes curriculum-driven nonfiction that encourages inquiry and satisfies curiosity for students grades K-8. Comprehensive text and captivating images combine to create a reading experience rich in content and diverse points of view. Among its most recognized brands include Acorn, Heinemann First Library, and Raintree Perspectives.

 

picture-window Picture Window Books was founded in 2001 and launched its first list in fall 2002 with the mission to create bright, wholesome books to delight and educate young readers. The imprint publishes illustrated fiction and nonfiction easy readers, picture books and chapter books for grades preK-4. Among its most popular character-driven series include Katie Woo, Kylie Jean, and Zeke Meeks, as well as high-profile licensing partnerships with Sports Illustrated Kids for Goodnight Baseball and Warner Bros. Consumer Products/DC Entertainment for the DC Super-Pets series.

 

stone-arch Founded in 2005, Stone Arch Books published its first season in Spring 2006 with a focus on inspiring independent reading with compelling contemporary and appropriate fiction for readers in grades K-9. The imprint transforms reluctant readers into reading enthusiasts through an exciting array of topics and genres in formats that kids love. Among its many well-loved series include Jake Maddox, Library of Doom, DC Super Heroes, Field Trip Mysteries, Bloodlines, Claudia Cristina Cortez, Monica, and The Incredible Rockhead. The imprint features celebrated licensing partnerships with Sports Illustrated Kids, Warner Bros. Consumer Products/DC Entertainment, and Tony Hawk, Inc.
