About our Scripts

Have you ever assigned a student a part in a Reader's Theater and realized that the reading level is way above or below what that student is capable of? We have made assigning parts easy for you.

Each of our Reader's Theater scripts has two versions: one for the teacher, and one for kids. The teacher's version of the script contains reading level information for each character. The reading level is determined by averaging the Flesch-Kincaid level of each character's speech. The characters are assigned a color based on this reading level.

When you look at the kids' version of the Reader's Theater script, you will see the same colors that were assigned in the teacher's version. For example, you will know that when a character name is green, you should assign it to a student who reads above grade level. If a character name is pink, you will know to assign it to a student who reads below grade level.

Reader's Theater helps kids learn. Now we have made Reader's Theater even more helpful.
