Each Heinemann First Library book has been carefully designed at the appropriate reading level for grades 1-3.  From concepts to text to graphic design—it's all developed and tested to make sure these books are just right for the primary student.

Each Heinemann First Library book:

  • is developmentally appropriate for ages 6-8.
  • offers a straightforward introduction to a topic.
  • concentrates on only one concept per spread.
  • limits text to 3-4 sentences per page.
  • uses fonts of 18 points or larger for readability.
